Barcelona – Round 1 of the 2014 FIA Masters Historic F1 Championship

The first weekend of the FIA Masters Historic Formula One World Championship saw 33 Historic Formula one cars take to the track in Barcelona.

Titan Historic driver Greg Thornton driving the Lotus 91 managed to secure 5th in qualifying meaning he would start on the third row of the grid behind Christophe D’Ansembourg (Williams FW07) in pole, Loic Deman (Tyrell 010) in 2nd, Michael Lyons(Hesketh 308E) in 3rd and Max Smith-Hilliard (William FW07) in 4th.

After a great start by Michael Lyons and Loic Deman in the first lap. Greg started to make his move and started to lead the pack by mid race with an amazing drive to get there and commanded the race in the remaining laps.

Sundays race saw Loic Deman overtake Greg Thronton who started on pole on the first lap. The top three cars of Loic Deman, Greg Thonrton and Martin Syreyton built up a massive 20 second lead over the rest of the pack, however Martin Syreyton ha to pull out at the last minute due to transmissions problem allowing Christophe D’Ansembourg to finish in third.

Overall it was a great weekend for Titan Historic Racing taking The win in the first race and coming second in the second race, meaning Greg Thornton is joint top of the World Championship with Andy Wolfe who both have 9 point in the Post 1978 Championship.
