For the first time in Titan history we have broken a lap record!

The Weekend of the 12 – 13 February was a bit up and down for Titan historic racing. We started off the weekend in East London, South Africa with the practice session where we were right up at the front in our beautiful Formula Junior Lotus 22. When it came to qualifying Greg Pulled off a great lap time of 1:34.408 to take pole position for race 1 and also to take the lap record off of John Love who set a lap record time of 1:34.650 in 1962. Unfortunately this took its toll on the car has the gear box completely locked up so Greg had to sit out of Race 1. However the great work of Tom and Colin manged to fix the gear box ready for Race 2. Greg Started at the back as we needed a slow start as we have a selector issue between 1st and 2nd gear which required a double declutch. Greg worked his way through a tough field and managed to pass Chris Drake on lap 5 for the lead. With the lead and a lap record Greg still hadn’t finished there, in lap 8 Greg put in a time of 1:34.390 beating the lap record one more time which he beat earlier that weekend by 0:00.018 seconds.

Overall in was a weekend which started off great with a Pole and a lap record looked like it may be ruined by gear box problems but after some great work for the guys Greg could get out for Race 2 and get a win and beat the lap record once more.
