Another Champions For Greg!

Greg has wrapped up another Masters Historic Formula One USA Championship in the 1982 Lotus 91, in the final weekend of the Master Historic Formula One Season Greg took a clean sweep all weekend with getting pole position, both race wins, and both fastest laps.

Greg went into the weekend 13 points clear of his championship rival Cal Meeker who he has been battling all season. With the win in race 1 Greg managed to be crowned the championship winner with 1 race to go. Greg had this to say to the Master Historic team after that victory.

“The car’s been brilliant.  I hit the curb hard on lap 3 and I was very, very concerned, picked up a little vibration.  I wasn’t sure if I had a tire going or just a weight fell off…Normally I get faster as the tires come on and then what we did, the boys just told me ‘you’ve got to sit around about the 29’s, so we just sat at 29’s… We were very lucky because I thought I was losing a tire”

A full write up on races one and two can be found on the Masters website here:

This caps off a brilliant season for Greg and the team in the USA F1 Championship. First of all it is great to be able to do these international races again after a crazy year for everyone but seeing Greg back on the top of the podium brings some normality back to the team.

This season has seen some amazing results for the team with 2 pole positions, 6 wins and 2 2nd places. This season could not have been possible with everyone who has been working behind the scenes and on the car all the way through so we would like to give a special thank you to chief engineer Ted and his right-hand man, trainee mechanic Harrison. This championship win would not have been possible without them.
